Help teach Hatch and Bennett to say "No Grazie!"

Senators Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett went on vacation this month without doing something really important for Utah: working to pass a bi-partisan bill to ban the disposal of foreign nuclear waste in the U.S.

Without the support of Utah’s senators, EnergySolutions’ influence and campaign contributions have drowned out the voices of thousands of Utahns opposed to their state and country becoming the world’s nuclear waste dump.

Now at home, Senators Hatch and Bennett need to hear from you. This month, we need your help to make sure our senators speak up for Utah, rather than stay silent for EnergySolutions.

Here’s what you can do:
1) Sign our petition urging Senators Hatch and Bennett to co-sponsor S. 3225, a bill to ban the disposal of foreign nuclear waste in the U.S.:

2) Join us for a training on how to meet with your senators or their staff in person at their local office near you. These meetings are an easy and effective way to make your voice heard without having to go to Washington D.C.

We are hosting three trainings on how to set these meetings up. Join us at the one nearest you:

Logan: August 14th from 7:00 to 8:00 pm
Logan City Police Building, 290 North 100 West, Logan

Salt Lake: August 21st from 7:30 to 8:30 pm
Room B in the Main Library, 210 E 400 S, SLC

Provo: August 27th from 7:00 to 8:00 pm
Room 309 in the Provo Library, 550 N University Ave, Provo

To RSVP for one of these trainings, contact me at Jessica@healutah.org or 801-355-5055.

With the Nuclear Regulatory Commission wary of making a decision on EnergySolutions’ proposal to import Italian nuclear waste, and EnergySolutions suing to make sure the waste makes it to Utah, a Congressional ban is the only thing that will settle this issue once and for all and protect the health and safety of us all. We need leadership from Senator Hatch and Bennett to make this happen.
