HEAL Utah Outreach Director Job Description

HEAL Utah is seeking a full-time Outreach Director to expand and strengthen our grassroots base, and to help ensure that the public has a voice in nuclear waste and energy policy issues in Utah. Potential candidates should be self-motivated and strategic thinkers, excellent communicators, and passionate about protecting the public health and environment of Utah.

About HEAL Utah
HEAL Utah is a grassroots organization dedicated to engaging citizens in efforts to promote clean energy and protect Utah from nuclear and toxic waste. For decades, private companies and government agencies have targeted Utah as a dumping ground for the nation’s nuclear and toxic waste. HEAL Utah is working to change the state and federal policies that have enabled this toxic economy to persist, while at the same time pushing for energy policies that will bring our state’s renewable energy online and put Utah on track towards clean, sustainable development.

Currently, we are working to prevent the disposal of other countries’ nuclear waste in Utah, fighting efforts to build a nuclear power plant in Southern Utah, and undertaking a study of the feasibility of generating 100% of our state’s electricity from renewable energy by mid-century.

Overall Description
HEAL Utah is focused not only on educating citizens about the problems we face, but also on building their civic skills in order to solve these problems and prevent future ones from occurring. The Outreach Director is responsible for both organizing our grassroots base in support of our campaigns and for developing and leading trainings to give our supporters the vital civic skills they need to be effective participants in our democracy. The Outreach Director works closely with the Executive and Policy Directors to develop grassroots strategy and plans but has personal autonomy over the day to day outreach and mobilization efforts.

• Manage and maintain database of volunteer and membership information
